Executive summary
BlueFlame is a data room tool. ArcaLabs is a deal workspace.
- BlueFlame is owned by the data room. It is part of Datasite and describes itself as the data and AI layer across Datasite. That is useful while the room is open, and it means your AI layer is tied to one virtual data room vendor. ArcaLabs connects Datasite as one source among Google Drive, SharePoint, OneDrive, Dropbox, Egnyte, Gmail, Outlook, and others.
- The room does not contain the market. A comp set, an EV bridge and a valuation range come from filings and live market data, not from documents a seller uploaded. ArcaLabs is FactSet’s Official AI Partner with licensed market data included, and reported figures are checked against the originating files.
- Checks that stop the file. ArcaLabs finds hardcoded numbers where a formula should be and converts them, recalculates the workbook, and checks it for errors. Decks are rendered and compared against your template.
Reading the room is one part of diligence. The IC memo, the model and the deck are the part you are judged on.
Where each one sits
Both tools reach your deal documents. They sit in different places, and that decides what each is good at.
BlueFlame AI
Its agent, Amp, works across Datasite, answering questions on documents, running saved blueprints and summarizing diligence. BlueFlame is part of Datasite, so the strongest version of the product assumes your deal is in that room. When the mandate is not in Datasite, or the room closes, the advantage narrows.
ArcaLabs
Datasite is one connector among several, so deal material reaches the workspace from wherever your firm keeps it. The center of gravity is the deal itself: a file tree, version history on every file, your firm’s definitions, and the finished model, deck and memo built from your own templates.
Sourcing and audit trails
BlueFlame cites the documents it read and offers source verification. That is the right idea for content inside a room. For a public comp set it is not enough, because the seller’s own materials are not the primary record.
In ArcaLabs every number carries its own source. What a reviewer does:
- Click a figure in the model.
- The filing opens in the app, scrolled to that number.
- Work through the tagged figures, marking each one reviewed.
- Sign off. The record of the review is kept.
- If a company reported the number, the tag links to the filing, not to a data vendor’s copy of it or to a page in a seller’s deck.
- Numbers that only exist on a data vendor, like a share price or a consensus estimate, name the vendor and the date instead, and are never dressed up as coming from a filing.
The notes are written into the workbook, so they are still there after you email the file to your investment committee or a client.
Market data and licensing
ArcaLabs is FactSet’s Official AI Partner. The license is included in the seat price, and we can work off another provider (e.g. Cap IQ) if your firm prefers. A comps refresh pulls live, and the reported figures in it are checked against each company’s own filing.
BlueFlame is built around the content in your room and your firm’s own systems. Live market data is not a stated part of the product, so the comp set and the valuation work still happen somewhere else, on a subscription you pay for separately.
Holding the license also lets ArcaLabs check the data before it reaches your model. Every ticker is confirmed against its home market first, because a blind US default returns the wrong company on foreign names. Ask for TEP and you get Tallgrass Energy rather than Teleperformance, and the comp set looks fine until someone senior reads it.
The deal record
A data room records who opened which document. It does not record what your team said to the counterparty, which version went out on Thursday, or what was agreed on a call.
In ArcaLabs the deal log works with the email you already use. Connect Gmail or Outlook and correspondence is matched to the right deal automatically, so the record builds itself without anyone forwarding anything. Each deal also gets its own address that counterparties can write to directly, and the agent drafts the reply there for you to approve. Every email, meeting and agent action lands in one deal log you can export.
For a fund with a compliance function, that record is the difference between producing an audit trail on request and rebuilding one from three inboxes.
Where they differ
| Area | ArcaLabs | BlueFlame AI |
|---|---|---|
| Center of gravity | The deal and the file you send | The Datasite room. BlueFlame is part of Datasite |
| Datasite | One connector among several, alongside Drive, SharePoint, Dropbox and Egnyte | The product is built around it |
| Live market data | Official FactSet Partner. License included in the seat price | Not a stated part of the product |
| Checks before delivery | Live formulas, workbooks recalculated and checked, decks compared against your templates | Not published |
| Sourcing | On every number. Click it and the filing opens at that figure | Citations against documents in the room |
| After you export | The notes are inside the workbook, so they survive the email | Not published |
| Deal record | An email address per deal, drafted replies, one deal log you can export | Room activity. No deal correspondence record |
Conclusion
Buying your AI layer from your data room vendor is convenient while the room is open. It also ties the tool your analysts use every day to one stage of one deal, on one platform.
Files fail review in four places. A number was pasted in rather than calculated. The template drifted. An estimate was footnoted as if a company had reported it. Or someone asked where a figure came from and the answer took four minutes to find.
ArcaLabs checks all four before the file reaches you, keeps the sourcing inside the file so it holds up after you send it, and holds the market data license so the comp set is live rather than borrowed from the room. Give both platforms three files from a deal you have already closed and ask for the same IC memo.
Run the same test on your own deal.
Bring three files from a closed deal. Ask for the workbook and the deck, export them, and click a number.
